RGSTARS - ??, Hey, that's what I'm calling it, at least until I pull the neck. Late 97' probable one off as I've never seen anything like it. Hand painted, matte finished, standard JC electronics. It's got a number of small edge blems, tiny chips, dings, and a couple small finish cracks and fog spots, the worst being a shot to the tip of the headstock from shipping in an unzipped gig bag. In finest Ibanez gig bag.** $1450** GONE** THANKS FERNANDO** 1/11/05 RGGOLD2 - DEAD Mint and exceedingly rare, in fact only 2 I'm aware of so probably a run of 6. As with most of these rare birds specs are a little tough to come by, but, ash body, gold leaf finish, gold leafed headstock, silver metallic sides and back, premium rosewood board, HSH with 5 way switching. pickups are probably Tone Zone (bridge), Blue Velvet (single) and Air Norton (Neck), Heron bird appliqués on the front [The Heron is deeply rooted in Japanese culture and mythology] one appliqué has 2 small air bubbles under it. Original factory Shaller adjustable spring claw "gadget" that adjusts through hole in back plate shown here. In perfect M100.** $1700** GONE** THANKS MICHAEL** 2/13/04 RGPAINT - Proto finish and one of a kind in a sweet blend of deep reds. The production Paints are either "earth tones" or "forest camo" [who knows what the real names of these are!] JCustom.com doesn't even know the specs on these yet. In Exc., it has a small 3mm chip on the front edge of the upper horn that would be a super easy touch up if it wasn't a matte clearcoat. There are a few shallow impressions. A shallow 2mm long impression 5mm below the trem rout, what looks like and impression but is really a clearcoat anomaly over the gap between the neck and neck p/u, and on the back there's another shallow depression next to the jack cover. The rest of the guitar shows light signs of use only. This Paint also has a 3 piece neck w/ volute instead of the scarf joint neck of a production paint, rosewood board, 2 offset dots at 12th only. White HH Dimarzio's instead of the production black, satin gold [powder coat] hardware. In M200 case** $1400** GONE** THANKS FERNANDO** 5/12/04 RGARCH - Near MINT, very limited production from the original J Custom run in 97'. Only some very light surface scratching typical of a guitar that hung in a store 5 years and was almost never touched. Bought new from a store. No dinks, depressions, finish cracks, pick scratching, gold wear, nada, nothing! 5mm maple capped mahogany body, ebony board, Air Norton [neck] and Tone Zone [bridge] equipped, stained mahogany covers to match the back, nice touch.. Example pics of surface scratching and better view of color here. In strange new very rounded possible Euro version of the molded M100 with embossed Ibanez logo.** $1750** GONE** THANKS CHRIS** 12/30 RGART1 - Near MINT with minor flaws. During shipping idiot packing left the trem bar and tool pack in the rear compartment of it's M100, which of course escaped causing 2 very short 2mm scratches and a 1mm impression on the top. It had also collected a small 1.5mm ding in the head before it was shipped to me. A shame, it was DEAD Mint when it left the previous owner. Detail pics here. SWEET flame top as an ART should. Production #'s on this model have been heavily debated, and since this is my site, my guess is production somewhere between 24 and 48 pieces, probably closer to the later. ;) In perfect M100** $1850** GONE** THANKS DON** 11/6/02 RGGEAR MRG5QMG - This is my absolute favorite J Custom made so far. Ibanez made 6 of these as a special order for Kurosawa in 2004. Basically a quilt top 8670 with a BX burst over Golden Amber, but without the crampy Wizard neck of the 86, this is 20 - near 22mm [1st - 12th]. Typical store special electrics with [I believe] dual Air Nortons and the BV single, with push pulls, and gold hardware. With the exception of some very very light fingernail scratches below the pickups this guitar would be Dead Mint. I had to have it so I paid heavy to get it, but I firmly believe it was justified. In it's original M100 with cert and all paperwork.** $3000 AS IS or $3250 with pro setup** GONE** THANKS PETE** 4/21/07 HRG2001 - Anybody love maple? SOLID flame maple body, maple Wizard neck, bound flame maple maple board, maple head with green abalone logo, cream Air Norton and Tone Zone, and gold powdercoat hardware. Body is oil finished and has a tiny imprint on the back top edge, a few rivet worms above the trem cover, and a scratch by the jack. Picky pics here. Great tone, not biting and harsh like you would imagine all maple to be, warm but with a unique voice, very punchy. One of 6 made in, duh, 2001. Singed Custom Shop cert and in original M200 case.** $2000** GONE** THANKS DON** 11/25/03 HRG1VV - Exc+++ Quilt top Ikebe store model from 2004 with a very nice top. Basically a 8670 with quilt top but with a 19-21mm neck instead of the Wizard on the 8670 [this one actually 19.5-21.5mm]. The front is extremely clean with just a hair of swirling below the pickups, the back is also but there's a tiny back bottom edge chip, clean sides but [and this is why I hate strap locks] there's worming between the strap pin and jack from the strap clip. There's a bit of cosmo wear on the edge of the baseplate and the low E saddle with some small pimpling and a light scratch on the baseplate. Typical mild divot under the G string 2nd fret is all the fretwear to speak of and will easily cut out, there is some cosmo wear on the nut. The bare exposed binding on the treble side showing dirt. It has the trem cover and original strap pics in the bag, and cert but not shown. In M100 case.** $2375** GONE** THANKS DAVE** 4/17/07 HRG1VV - Quilt top Ikebe special from 2004. Basically a loose open quilt topped 8670VV as it has an ebony board, flame binding and matched [well, flamed] head. There's a 3mm edge ding on the top edge in the belly contour and a tiny <1mm ding on the edge by the lower strap pin, a 2mm depression near the lower edge, light scratching over the jack, a thin edge bruise on the back edge of the headstock, light fingernail scratches below the pickups, and light darkening to the bare exposed edge of the flame binding. There is a LOT of cosmo wear off the trem and the knobs, the edges of the tuners are also worn, as is the string retainer. I can't remember what the pickups are supposed to be but they're double AN's right now and look original, both pots are push pull but I'm not positive of the switching options. Lots of rivet scratch through to the finish on the trem cover but the paint on the back is near pristine. In original M200 case with cert** Pro setup, $2350** GONE** THANKS JIM** 9/16/06 HRG4 - Super quilt top Ikebe special 7 string from the limited run of 15 they did in 2005. This one is Exc but it is used. There are some fine back edge chips that are very narrow, just the very edge was lost, a depression/finish crack line above the trem cover, a chip on the very tip of the lower horn, pick scratching that runs from above the pickups and the cloudy patch of a played guitar under, and finish wear off the lower trem saddles. But man is this just a beautiful guitar. Cert and TJC case. Face polished and pro setup.** $2300** GONE** THANKS JOHN** 9/12/06 RG9570DR - Near Mint, there are 2 small depressions in the top and a small lower edge fog spot, almost zero pick scratching, a couple little "stain" spots on the back of the trem that didn't seem to budge when I tried to clean. It looks like the bass edge of the fretboard was either filed for fret overhang/shrinkage, or it was taped off poorly when it was sprayed. thin edge of bare flame maple binding at any rate. In UV1000 with decent sized tolex strip out of the front top edge.** $2075** GONE** THANKS ANDRES** 8/7/06 RG8620S – New, purchased from a store in Japan, it has some signs it was played once. There are 2 fingernail scratches under the neck p/u, an area of light trails on the control cover, and what looks like dusting scratches on the head, otherwise dead mint. The reason I bought this Spalted was this is the only one of the limited run [of I think 26] I saw that had a flamed spalted top and head [is much more amber than the flash pics]. The flame is subtle but definitely flamed. As an 86 it has the flame maple binding but it also has the gloss sprayed head separation line to the satin neck and rosewood board of the 84’s. In J Craft case with cert. Pro setup.** $2750** GONE** THANKS PETE** 3/15 07 RG8470FFE - THIS is my idea of what a flame top should be. Character. It went to bid in Japan so it cost a fortune [in fact I paid alot more for this than any new 8470 I bought], but everything worthwhile does. I'd rather have this than an 8470A. 15 fingernail scratches and 1/4" NJFC's on both sides away from dead mint, might possibly have just a hair of dirt in the exposed flame maple neck binding but looks clean. In JC TJC case with cert and all candy. Pro rebuild with locking studs.** $2850** or **AS IS at $2600** GONE** THANKS ANTHONY** 6/19/09
RG8470FFE
- Near Dead Mint with only some super fine fingernail scratching from using the
fine tuners, and what are probable super scattered light button scratches on the
back. Otherwise flawless, no cosmo wear, the exposed maple binding super clean,
etc. In original JC TJC case with cert and all paperwork and accessories.
RG8470FRS - Near Mint with very light scattered swirl scratching in the pick scratch area. Some small scratches none of which will catch a fingernail, one shown on the back edge of the trem rout, a short 2mm finish crack on the back bottom edge, and a small patch of little squiggle scratches on the back below the neck screws where it sat against a buckle or something while it was being test driven. Couldn't get these to show up in the pics. Red Spinel is very tough to photograph but it is a very nice and rich red. Locking stud mod, pro rebuild, case and cert. $2375** GONE** THANKS JESS** 5/23/08
RG8470FBX
- New guitar bought out of a store but it wasn't untouched in box
and is Mint minus. The most minor of flaws, there are 4 1/4" fingernail
scratches below the bridge pup, a tiny 1mm mark on the back side edge, a small
group of 4 tiny marks at the tip of the headstock, and a strange "line" [not a
scratch] on the baseplate of the trem. Otherwise the guitar is as new with
nothing more than a few minute test drive. In TJC-JC case with cert. RG8470FBX - Exc+ condition, it has a very clean top with only some light fingernail scratching mostly below the neck pup. There is a small 3x1mm back edge chip near the lower strap pin, and 2 tiny depressions on the upper back near the belly cut. There's also a light depression on the top point of the face of the head near the low E tuner and a bit of rust to the tops of the low E and A string lock blocks in the saddle. Otherwise it shows little play wear and no fretwear. In it's clean TJC-JC case with cert. Pro rebuild with stud mod.** $2125** GONE** THANKS TOM** 5/15/08 RG8470FFE - Brand new untouched FE, but the dealer I bought it from put it's cert under the body for shipping and it has the smallest amount of cert rash, like the cert moved twice on the trip. Subsequently I sold this guitar and after doing the lever and crown I tightened the tuners, nothing out of the ordinary, until I saw a finish crack radiating out from the tuner washer, and then, another. The high E and A, both about 1/4" long. This has been an annoyance this year and isn't the first time it's happened. I haven't increased my torque spec for tuners but I have caused several of these this year. I'm assuming that either the clearcoat is a little more brittle or the edges of the washers are getting sharper from being punched out. Either way, they are there now. Pro setup with stud mod.** $2375** GONE** THANKS ALAN** 9/8/07 RG8270BX - Exc+++ with no chips, dings, or finish cracks. There is very light fingernail scratching below the [mostly] bridge humbucker in about a 1 1/2" diameter area, wear to the cosmo on the low E and A saddle, just a few tiny pimples on the trem baseplate, and wear to the cosmo around the top rim of the volume knob. Very mild fretwear, in it's TJC JC case with cert. **$2100 w/ pro setup or $1875 as is.** GONE** THANKS MATT** 6/4/07 RG8270DR - Near Mint with only very light swirling in the pickscratch area, and a 5/8" long very light scratch on the back over the trem cover. Otherwise it's in super clean Condition. The MVC pics will be closest to color but I can get no pictures that even come close to DR or come close to how nice the top is in hand. No cert, in original J Craft case.** $1900** GONE** THANKS NICK** 9/6/07 RG8270DR - This Mint minus 8270 is the top of the J Custom line for 05. Minimal signs it was ever touched but shipping shock caused a 1/4" neck joint finish crack which also took a small flake of finish off the edge of the pocket. Otherwise the guitar is as new. I cannot get good representation of the color with either of my cameras. Trust me to say it looks deep red in person. In perfect J Craft case, cert included of course.** $1900** GONE** THANKS ERIC** 2/27/06 RG8270VV - Super sweet figured flame in Near Dead Mint, only some light fingernail scratching away from flawless. Full pro setup, cert and case.** $2000** GONE** THANKS RICHARDO** 2/21/06 RG8670TB - Exc+++ with no chips, dings, or finish cracks. Cloudy pick/fingernail scratch areas below the pickups, some light string changing scratches on the headstock, medium fretwear, mostly on the G string, mostly mid scale. The exposed binding on the treble side showing dirt. In original M200, with cert.** $2200 fully sorted, fret level, stud mod, pro setup, or $2000 AS IS** GONE** THANKS ANTHONY** 8/9/07 RG8670TB – EXC+++ sweet top 86 with typical light fingernail scratching below the pickups, some small dot pimpling on the trem baseplate, and some light dirt on the exposed uncleared edge of the flame maple binding. Otherwise super clean and in highest grade gig bag with cert.** $2150** GONE** THANKS RAFAEL** 12/13/06 RG8670BX - Mint - with a super sweet top. The condition looks like it spent one day on a store rack with about 8 fine short scratches on the back from a shirt button or similar, and 30/40 super light fingernail scratches [or less] below the pickups. the only thing I don't like is the attached Allen wrench holder behind the headstock. Damn near new and priced accordingly. Includes fret level, stud mod, etc. In crisp M100.** $2250**.GONE** THANKS ØYSTEIN** 8/3/05 RG1680XAM - Killer flame maple capped mahogany, H/S/H with Piezo Lo Pro and bright abalone offset dots in Amber. This is one sweet ride. In virtually untouched condition, about 8 fingernail scratches in the pick scratch area. In like new vintage style Ibanez case.** $1200** GONE** THANKS BRENT** 4/30/02 RG1508 - 7mm Flame maple over mahogany, H/S/H. excellent condition, has a dink right at the output jack and a touched up flake off the head. Uncased (case crisis still)** $950**GONE** THANKS GREG** 12/13/01 RG7CST - With it's flame top, piezo system, and blank ebony fretboard, the 7CST is one of the rarest and most desirable of all Ibanez 7's. This one has 2 chips on the side/back of the top edge between the belly contour and arm contour, a short finish crack on the edge of the belly contour, a 3mm ding on the bottom of the lower horn, and several tiny/small dings on the back near the lower strap pin. There's actually more pick scratching on the upper side of the pickups than below, although neither bad. In fairly clean UV1000 case. Condition pics here.** $2250** GONE** THANKS RON** 7/28/05

case** $1650** RG6CST - MINT -, only the tiniest mark on the bottom edge here and light polishing in the pick scratch area from being MINT. Blank Ebony board, swamp ash topped mahogany body, with the Double Edge piezo bridge. 1 of 24 made. PAF neck, Tone Zone bridge. Sounds AWESOME. In UV1000** $1500** GONE** THANKS DON** 11/15 RG8570MVV, NOS Dead Mint 2003 with the Edge Por trem and MAPLE fretboard, this is a brand new guitar. It does have a strong neck and is only giving .2mm of neck relief so this one is best for a player that prefers a straighter neck. In new M200 case, with cert of course.** $1600** GONE** THANKS CHRIS** 12/21/04 RG21A - NEAR DEAD MINT with a claimed production of 12 pieces, all for the US market [also known as RG CUSTOM 1], this one is #7. Neck through, 5 piece neck ebony board with "wing" inlay at the 12th, trans black [but looks dark purple] Sweet quilt top and head, all controls deep set into the top except the micro switches. Rolland Midi equipped [don't ask me about it, I'm clueless about midi!] and pickups direct mounted from the rear. Cert and crisp UV1000** $1800** GONE** THANKS RICH** 4/7/03 RG21B - NOS and untouched brand new 21B from the 2001 US imported run. This is the rarer model than the 21A. From my 2001 NAMM report [I wasn't there] I have these listed as PAF Pro's which may or may not be correct. They are 13 pin Rolland equipped thru neck J Customs with hollow acoustic sound chamber between the pickups and satin clearcoat. The only flaw is some strange finish pitting/anomaly near the bass side neck joint on the front. With cert and all original parts and paperwork, in J Craft case.** $2200** GONE** THANKS ESA** 9/1/06 RG4GA - Here's a tough one to come by, the RG4 was the first neck thru JC [I think] and the precursor to the 9670. The top on this 4 is perfect with only very light fingernail swirls blow the pickups. There are 2 dings on the side of the upper horn, one on the corner of the belly contour, a back edge fog spot beside a tint chip near the strap pin, 3 small chips and a ding south of the jack to the control cover, and a small fog spot on the back of the lower horn. There is pickwear to the edge of the single coil cover, medium fretwear that is very even and will be cut out during prep, and the bridge pickup has been changed to an EVO but is included [I believe these were TZ/BV/TZ]. Flawless hardware. JC vine inlay in flame maple bound ebony board. In perfect M200 case.**$2175** GONE** THANKS ALEX** 3/8/06 RG3VV - Nice sweet flamed player condition JC3. 5 piece maple and bubinga neck, bound neck and head w/rosewood overlay, rosewood board w/ offset dots, inset controls, angled jack, Tone Zone bridge and Air Norton neck pickups. I count 19 tiny little depressions in the top, some with a tiny crack, most with a tiny fog spot, talking max of 2mm but most around .5mm. Ample rivet worming on the back and 3 small chips around the back edge, the largest 3x5mm. Just a hint of fretwear. Some worming and scuffing on the bottom side. Couple small dents in the back of the neck. Serial # 11011 if it makes you feel lucky. In M200 case with certificate folder.** $1050** GONE** THANKS MARK** 9/3/03 RGT? - In actuality it's an HRG1NT. What the model number is I don't know but I'm sure somebody will write to say "hey stupid, it's an RGT1220!" or similar. Whatever the number it's simply a plain Jane J Custom neck thru workhorse. It does have quite a few edge chips which aren't glaring since it's not a stained finish and they could be "hidden" with a coat of super glue. There's a 5mm edge chip on the front edge of the inside of the lower horn, a 3mm chip on the edge south of the tone knob, an 8x5mm chip that wraps the edge by the output and another 3mm of the side close by with a chip on the jack edge, and another 3mm chip on the edge of the arm contour. There are 2 back edge chips, a 3mm near the jack and a 5x3mm behind the arm contour. There's a 2mm ding on the back of the neck at the 9th treble side, pimpling on the bass side of the trem, and light fretwear. Back of neck is factory de-glossed like an RG4. In a clean M200 case. This was supposed to be in much better condition AND I got caught in a lull in the currency exchange, both combine to create a no profit situation. AS IS at cost.** $1200** GONE** THANKS JERRY** 7/3/06
RG8527VV - Nice flamed 85 in Exc condition, it's got 2 dings on the front edge, a 2mm south of the tone knob and a deeper 3-4mm at the jack, there's another ding and finish crack on the bottom side, and also a 1cm but thin shave off the back bottom edge opposite the tone, and another 3mm at the jack, with a fog spot on the jack edge. Some light pimpling starting on the trem baseplate with one large pimple, and the cosmo fully worn off the bass side of the low B saddle. Light fingernail scratching below the pickups, no fretwear If this had a cert I misplaced it, I just found the cert for the 7DBK below so I'll have to mail that tomorrow ;/ [I've got to start taping these to the cases again!]. In clean original M200 case.** $1550** GONE** THANKS JOHANNES** 1/25/06 RG8527VV - Near Mint Lo Pro 8527 with a pinstripe top that's 1/4 sawn so does have a little extra character. The back is a beautiful matched pair of dancing figured mahogany I may see once a year. There are a couple small depressions in the top, the largest on the edge near the tail strap pin which has a small 2mm fog spot in it, and a smaller fog spot about 1" away. There is a small scuff/scratch patch next to the trem cover on the back, a couple very small back bottom edge fog spots, and some larger ones around the angled jack. Corrosion on the hardware will clean leaving maybe 15 small pimples on the bass side of the trem and the corroded switch screws that just don't clean. Replaced strap pins, in nice non Ibanez gig bag, no cert.** $1650** GONE** THANKS MICHAEL** 4/24/06 RG8527TBK - [I think], Lo Pro equipped gigging grade with a lot of chips. The face looks relatively clean with a bruise at the edge near the jack and lots of pick scratching, but there are plenty of side edge chips on the tail side, and the back is pretty bad. If I started listing them all this would run on forever so let the pics do the talking. Just a hint of fretwear, no cert, in super thin gig bag. Of course I got screwed on this one, I'd never intentionally buy one in this condition at the price and as such is being sold as is.** $1050** [Add $250 if you want it fully sorted and setup, not recommended at the price point] ** GONE** THANKS GURJ** 1/31/06 RG8527VV - Edge Pro equipped 8527 in Exc +. There is a 1.5mm ding/fog spot on the arm contour, and 2 other short 1.5mm finish cracks on the face. On the side at the arm contour are a 5mm finish crack and 2 dings, 1 about 3mm, the other is about 2mm. On the back edge there are 6 very small chips and dings, the worst shown, and near the jack are several very small fog spots. In highest grade Jp market gig bag, trem cover and cert in bag. Includes locking stud mod, fret level, etc.** $1500** GONE** THANKS ADAM** 10/21/05
RG7-1-DBK - Excellent + with a face that is extremely clean. Some pick swirling and fine pimpling on the trem are the only face flaws. There are 2 back butt edge chips, one small, one smaller, and some edge marks and finish cracks. There are 2 dings, one next to the control cover, and one on the bottom side just down from the jack. Clean headstock except for a small fog spot at the tip. In clean M200 with pulled strap, includes JC cert.** $1675** GONE** THANKS ANDERS** 11/16/06 RG7-1-DBK - Excellent + with a face that is extremely clean. In clean M200 with pulled strap, includes JC cert.** $1600** GONE** THANKS DAVE** 3/15/06 RG7-1-VV - Precursor to the 8527 and with the same spec, except much rarer guitar. This one is Exc.+++, the front showing only the slightest signs of play, on the back there is a series of buckle rash [probable] between the trem cover and AANJ with more rash and scuffing on the AANJ, and 2 fog spots on the back edge.. Cert of course, in perfect M200 case.** $1550** GONE** THANKS KENT** 11/11/04
S5400 -
Another of the rare breed, this was tied with the most expensive Ibanez
available prior to the Y2K signature models, original list at $4000 which tied
the RGEGYPT, both available in 1997'. This example is in Excellent condition
with an unfortunate 4x6mm chip on the back bottom edge and a very small 1.5mm
fog spot on the top back edge. Solid lacewood body, full abalone purfling on
body neck and head, hurricane inlays, rosewood overlaid headstock, satin gold
hardware with zero wear. From the front it is cherry. Detail pics
here. In
original M100.** $1600** GONE** THANKS BILL** 5/12/04 JCS - If you like S models it doesn't get much better than these neck thru J Customs. Since the gold patted pattern is different on each of these it's tough to tell how much has worn in the pick scratch area but I assume some has. Otherwise the face is very clean. There's a 5mm scuff on the top edge, and a 3mm ding also on the side. There's a couple small 2mm back edge dings and a short finish crack next to them, but cliplock strap rash on the back side of the upper horn, one of the many reasons I hate clip locks. The strap is installed under the Gotoh locks ends. Because this was sold at Sam Ash it came in uncased and without the other half of the Gotoh locks. In SKB case.** $1375** GONE** THANKS PETE** 5/4/07
