PIA
- THE piezo JEM and the only one
I'm aware Steve has had built. If you watched the Grammy Awards in 2002 you saw
Steve play this guitar in a duet with Nelly Furtado, as did 40 million others.
If you were lucky enough to see it you heard how magical it sounded in the
masters hands.
These
two RED LACE - One of Steve's personal custom shop guitars built to spec and auctioned for charity earlier this year on ebay bringing just under $10k. It was reported in numerous magazines. It remains in the Gallery on vai.com with it's history here. Specs are 15mm [Fifteen!] flame maple top over mahogany LACS body with a trans red finish and EVO's [body dates 88'-92' by the original studs, set in teflon tape and locking studs never locked LOL] The original neck was replaced after an accident with one of Steve's custom made rosewood board VWH necks, Wizard profile [17mm-19mm] and has had the factory clear removed and swabbed with [probably Tung] oil.. This guitar has *awesome* tone! It also has all the wear and tear you would expect to find on a tour guitar, no chips, but plenty of little dinks and some deep scratching on the face. Plenty of pics here. Scan of the Guitar Player blurb here. In the new M100 case as shipped by Steve, Earnie Ball, and Favored Nations** $8500** HEAVILY REDUCED, ROLAND WANTS TO MOVE IT**$4750** GONE** THANKS CHRIS** 10/6/03 **************************************************************** A good friend and fellow serious collector is pruning his collection a bit and brought down 10 DNA's and a JEM10 for me to find new homes. He has a great eye and with minor exception collected great swirls in top condition. All are either Dead Mint or near to it, and all are in US cases, either HUSA or Chesbro. Chesbro cases have the plaque on the right side of the lock, HUSA has it on the left. He got good terms for the brokerage so the price will only include a basic setup. If you desire a pro setup [fret level, fret end radiusing, micro radiusing the bridge, nut grind, etc.] you'll have to add $200. All have very good neck profiles so all would make excellent players if desired. The best color representation will be the Olympus pics [P prefix] shot with flash, you'll know when you see them. All but one have a taped number tag stuck to the plaques and the adhesive has dried quite a bit. The good news is all still have the plastic on the plaques. I did scrape the leftover adhesive from one and it came off fairly well, but you can definitely tell it was removed from telltale signs left on the plastic film covering the plaque. VAI2KDNA #294 - Near Mint, it has 2 light scratches on the back of the neck, about 30 fingernail scratches on the guard, a [fairly common] partial fog spot on the edge of the jack cavity, and a tiny fog spot on the edge of the angle jack hole. Some tiny spotting on the trem baseplate bass side, missing cert. In world flight case.** $6000** GONE** THANKS BERTUS** 1/13/06 VAI2KDNA #234 - Killer swirl with great combination of color and the first pick in my original Millennium Pickoff. It's still dead mint except for a possible 2 fingernail scratches on the guard, although near every DNA had a couple light scratches on the guard somewhere because they were never covered in plastic. Original DNA Gallery pics here and here. This was a US guitar but Chris requested it in the Flight Case and that is what's it's in, super clean but has a couple scuffs on the bottom side. I've always thought this one was killer so it's tough to sell, and considering I paid a fortune to get it back, it'll be expensive, but worth it..** $6500** GONE** THANKS PALI** 9/11/06 VAI2KDNA #22 - Dead Mint - with about 15 fingernail scratches on the guard. There are 3 tiny 1.5mm circle crack/fog spots on the edge of the jock cover, and another longer half circle finish crack with fog spots on the same edge/point of the control cover. Tough to explain these but they are there. Arguably the best face swirl of the lot with a nice dark board.** $5250** GONE** THANKS STEEN** 12/7/05 VAI2KDNA #29 - Dead Mint, no excuses, sweet pattern with bright vibrant popping color palette. In crisp case with crisp original numbered shipping box.** $5000** GONE** THANKS ERIC** 11/28/05 VAI2KDNA #56 - Dead Mint -, sweet pattern with a great color palette of dark and bright mix, with a nice sweet dark pao ferra fretboard. There are maybe 20 fingernail scratches on the guard keeping it from flawless. In crisp case.** $5000** GONE** THANKS STEPHAN** 9/23/05 VAI2KDNA #73 - Dead Mint, no excuses.** $4350** GONE** THANKS RUSLAN** 12/7/05 VAI2KDNA #95 - Dead Mint - with only about 5 fingernail scratches on the guard, a tiny tolex tick and another small bruise on the case. Nice super dark board.** $4250** GONE** THANKS ELIOT** 1/11/06 VAI2KDNA #103 - Dead Mint no excuses with a nice dark fretboard.** $4500** GONE** THANKS ELIOT** 1/11/06 VAI2KDNA #174 - Dead Mint - with the most fingernail/pick scratches of any in this group, but the only flaws on the guitar. Looks like all from a single player on an extended test drive. It does have a 3/8" NJFC on the bass side. This was an import and has had it's world case swapped for a HUSA US case.** $4100** GONE** THANKS EVILIO** 11/22/05 VAI2KDNA #210 - Near Dead Mint, it does have fingernail scratching on the guard from an in-store test drive, otherwise dead mint. This is a sister to #216 but with a much nicer patter [IMO]. In crisp case.** $4500** GONE** THANKS GEORGE** 1/25/06 VAI2KDNA #216 - Dead Mint - with only about 4 short fingernail scratches on the guard. Nice dark fretboard, in crisp case.** $3900** GONE** THANKS ELIOT** 1/25/06 VAI2KDNA #230 - Dead Mint untouched with a great swirl in my favorite dark moody color palette. Super dark board with red highlights, in crisp case.** $4950** GONE** THANKS LLOYD** 3/21/06 **************************************************************** VAI2KDNA # 268 - Near Dead Mint with only the lightest signs of play or handling. Sweet swirl in my favorite palate. Very small 2mm back edge chip professionally repaired. In world flight case and original shipping box.** $4800** GONE** THANKS GAVIN** 11/16/05 VAI2KDNA #91 - Sweet dark palate swirl restored to Near dead mint with a new pickguard and 3 saddles. Only the slightest signs of handling. In clean HUSA Y2K case. High res pics here** $4600** GONE** THANKS MANNY** 7/7/05 VAI2KDNA #272 - Near Dead Mint sweet dark pallette swirl. "Near because I remember touching the back edge of the body to the case rail when I was putting it away after unpacking it. I polished it with a Dremel right after I did it and when I looked to take a close up just now, I can't find any trace, although, I know there was, a trace. Otherwise, untouched, still wearing factory steel. In clean Flight case. High res pics here** $4500** GONE** THANKS THIEN** 4/28/05 VAI2KDNA #205 - DEAD MINT, beautiful consistent swirl in very UVMCish colors. In crisp US case, an absolutely untouched complete package. High res pics here.** $4300** GONE** THANKS FERNANDO** 7/19/04 VAI2KDNA #152 - Dead Mint, beautiful swirl. This DNA has a clearcoat anomaly on the top which looks like a series of 3 fisheyes [term used by painters which refers to a circular area where the clear or paint is thin] in a row, I had this guitar when new and this was there right out of the box, shown here. Under extremely close observation you can see a 1/2" diameter circle around it where the factory sanded it out a bit. This could be filled with CA but I'd leave it alone. In perfect US case including all candy [cert, card, tools, etc.]. High res pics here.** $3950** GONE** THANKS FERNANDO** 7/19/04
VAI2KDNA # 92 - Dead Mint minus, not a pick or fingernail scratch but 4
small scratch/scuff lines on the guard, no worse than 4 short pick scratches.
Nice palate, same draw as # 89 [see the DNA Gallery for 3rd pick]. Very nice
smoke swirling. Near mint US case with one tiny tolex tick.
VAI2KDNA
# 117 - Sweet
swirl, I love these colors!! Minimal signs of play, some very light pick scratching on the
guard, but the edge below the switch has 5 small edge cracks from a brush against
something, VERY tough to see. In clean flight case. High res pics here. Close up of edge
here** $3750**
VAI2KDNA # 161 - Another KILLER swirl in my favorite dark color palette. Lightest signs of play, some very light pick scratching on the guard, there is a slightly cloudy spot on the arm contour, that can only be seen at the right angles, odd. In clean flight case. High res pics here.** $4500** GONE** THANKS DAVID** 11/26/03 VAI2KDNA #30 - Dead Mint, no excuses. US cased. High res pics here** $3550** GONE** THANKS MARTIN** 10/8/03VAI2KDNA # 158 - Pure
swirl, very pink but the dark sweet pink. Killer back! Was in a store for 8 months, some
light fingernail scratches on the guard, very slight signs of handling. No problems. US
cased. High res pics
here.**
$4000** VAI2KDNA # 174 - Swirl - showing the faintest signs it was ever touched, a few very sparce light fingernail scratches on the guard. In flight case. High res pics here.** $3900** SALE**$3600** GONE** THANKS FRED** 3/18/03 VAI2KDNA # 37 - Super Sweet swirl, lots of Bloodbath color and deep purple blood. Mature. As Dead Mint as they come, absolutely no signs it was ever touched. High res pics here. In perfect US case.** $4500** SALE $4250** GONE** THANKS REMY** 3/14/03 VAI2KDNA # 152 - Pure swirl - DEAD Mint untouched US cased with crisp inner and outer shipping boxes. High res pics here.** $4200** SALE**$4000** GONE** THANKS JOHN** 1/24/03 VAI2KDNA #65 - Swirl in a nice deep red palette. This guitar is in Unplayed Dead Mint minus condition, other than 1 tiny invisible 1mm touch up of a factory flake at the tip of the lower horn it's flawless. In crisp US case and shipping box. High res pics here.** $4000** SALE**$3700** GONE** THANKS LARRY** 1/19/03 VAI2KDNA # 16 - Chaotic Chromavision # 016 with the given name Fantasia. The colors on this one just make me cream, the dark purple blood is definitely my favorite color on a DNA, and that rich green and rich pink finish it. Very nice mature color palette. Barely touched condition with the drawback of a tiny flec off the back edge, and I mean tiny, see it here. I'll be touching this up. US cased. High res pics here.** $4200** SALE**$3900** GONE** THANKS HENDRIK** 1/10/03 VAI2KDNA # 12 - A little swirl and a little chaos, # 012, previously owned and showing minimal signs of play. US cased. High res pics here.** $3500** SALE** $3350**GONE** THANKS ANDREW** 10/7/02 VAI2KDNA # 61 - Pure Swirl - As close to Dead Mint as possible, about 5 fingernail scratches on the guard. In Flight case. High res pics here.** $4750** GONE** THANKS JEREMY** 5/01/02 VAI2KDNA - #229, SWEET swirl, named "Eclectic Rainbow" by R.J. (original owner), Near dead mint, the smallest signs of use, basically about 10 fingernail scratches on the guard. The ONLY DNA that has a Crystal Planet fretboard!! Super dark Rosewood, not Pau Ferro like the rest!! Cased in the Flight Case. $3550** GONE** THANKS FRED** 4/26 VAI2KDNA - #032, SWEET swirl! Small dent in the wood at tip of headstock shown here, light pick/fingernail scratches on guard. Hoshino case has a few tolex ticks** $3450** GONE** THANKS CHRIS** 5/7 VAI2KDNA - #019, Killer is all I need to say!! Minimal signs of play and handling** $3900** GONE** THANKS BILL** 7/17 ALL DNA sales (over 50 of them) are recorded in the DNA Gallery. There are very few shown here as I used the separate DNA stock page and just recently started posting them on the Used page. Unfortunately I never kept the past sales 'details' on my DNA stock page. JEM77PMC - Sweet zipper swirl in EXC ++condition. There are quite a few fog spots, some with associated finish crack but some without. The top has 12, the largest being on the bottom edge and is about 5/8" x 3/8" and the second largest on the top edge about 1/2" x 1/4", with several ranging from 5mm to smaller in the field. The back bottom edge has a sliver chip with a fog spot about 5/8" x 3/8" with just a few small ones in the field. Typical pickguard scratching, the hardware in very clean with wear to the tops of the lower saddles only. There is no wear thru on the fretboard but there is a bit of fingernail worming between the frets, that show just a bit of fretwear. There a small bruise on the top edge of the headstock and a small rub on the bottom edge near the tip, and a short NJFC on the trebble side, about 1/4". In very clean original UV1000 but with a large tear on the back bottom end. Detail pics here. Small % broker deal so as is, but it was fully sorted when previously sold 4 years ago and has not been played since, and after looking it over the setup hasn't changed a hair, go figure. Add $100 for setup if desired.** $4200** GONE** THANKS ANTON** 8/30/06 JEM77PMC-RAT - This has got to be my biggest mistake in years [although I can think of a few that come close]. I've hesitated to list this because it's been an enigma that I couldn't figure out, but I finally spent even more time on it and can now confidently say, it is a true PMC, it's just been so screwed with and in such poor condition it was tougher to figure out. First, it's had the clearcoat sanded down to the swirl and then some painted touch ups done to the damaged areas, then recleared with a rather thin coat of what looks like automotive clear. The neck plate is PMC range, the neck is PMC, but the neck pocket, though bearing traces of swirl, has been "cleaned", evidently to clean out the clear overspray [instead of just protecting the pocket to begin with]. I fully believe it was a factory body but wasn't sure if it was factory PMC until I took an Exacto knife and took off 2 small areas of the original thick factory clear leaft in the claw to reveal, it is the original swirl underneath. That said, on to the pathetic condition. The body has more blems around the edge than clean areas, inpainted touch ups, but is the original ATD swirl. There is a crack in the body back that appears to be very stable, it runs from the tail edge to the trem cavity so it's in an area of the body that doesn't affect anything and will not grow longer because it ends in the trem rout. It runs about 3/4" deep on a beveled angle as you can see in the pics. It does not run through to the top and doubtful it ever will. On to the neck which has had the headstock oversprayed in black, had a break behind the nut that was luthier repaired by glue and dowel pinning and is a permanent repair. The fretboard is covered with freckles of browning, what it is, you guess, and there is fairly minimal fretwear. The good points [and thankfully there are a few] is there is the previous owner attempted to restore the attempted restore and added a new guard and all new hardware. He bought an Edge instead of a Lo Pro only because he didn't know better. I guess the other good news would be it does have a very good neck profile and there is no reason why this wouldn't make an excellent beater [or better yet, maybe a Lasher!]. It's n some older Kraemer case. AS IS and below cost.** $1000** GONE** THANKS MATT** 3/13/06 JEM77PMC - SWEET swirl, ex Ciancuilli, used to be the first PMC is the Jemsite Gallery but has since been reorganized to page 2. 10 small/med./large fog spots/dinks on the face, 7 very small ones on the back, and a large fog spot about 3" below the jack. Small dot pimpling on the trem, corroded plate. No wear through and very clean fretboard and headstock, back of neck a little dirty. Detail pics here. In very clean original pink lined** $2750** GONE** THANKS GURJ** 8/23/04 JEM77PMC - SWEET swirl in superb condition. Crisp body, crisp board except for a small area at the 5th where it was (something'd, looks like steel wool marks again), no stain. Crisp hardware including near perfect plate, the light cosmo just worn off the front 3 neck screws and the very tops of the saddles. Some pick scratching on the guard and the tinniest 1mm dink and 2mm fog spot on the edge of the grip. A 2mm fog spot by the trem rout, a 3mm fog spot on the edge of the arm contour, and larger fog spots at the edge of the jack cut. A 1 5/8" scuff scratches in the surface of the clear on the back top edge. Plenty of pics here. Bridge pickup had been changed and is now back to original spec. Signed by Stevie in silver paint pen on the face. In clean/few scuffs pink lined.** $3000** GONE** THANKS MIKE** 4/4/03 JEM77PMC - SWEET swirl in superb condition. Crisp body, crisp fingerboard except for 5 thin clear scratches just turning light grey, sweet playing bow. Speckle corrosion on the first quarter of the plate (not worn, plate left dirty when put away causes speckle corrosion), pick scratching on the guard, and 1 tiny tick at the top edge of the head that would disappear with a dab of clear. No glamour couch shots yet as I haven't even cleaned it, getting way behind again. In clean pink lined case, combo lost, functioning but tongue has been removed till somebody spins the wheels 1000 times and retrieves the combo ;)** $3000** GONE** THANKS JASON** 4/16/02 JEM77PMC - SWEET swirl, ex Dave Weiner. 2 edge chips on the front as well as 3 small dinks (no penetration but star cracks) and a total of 23 fog spots on entire body. Board slightly dirty. On consignment and owner would like to move fast. In original clean pink lined case. MANY condition pics here** $2350** GONE** THANKS MICHAEL** 12/19/01 JEM77PMC - Sweet swirl, nicely flamed maple board! No chips, losses, or fading, but 4 larger fog spots on the bottom edge, and some tiny fog spots scattered, doink on top edge of head shown here. In pink lined case. $2500** GONE** THANKS DAVE** 7/29

JEM77GMC - Exc + last batch with an extremely good swirl rarely seen on GMC's. This is a last batch as it has the solid green knobs instead of white base used on the last group assembled. I have a NOS GMC in my collection that is also last batch. This guitar was played and is not perfect. The only missing finish is a 6 x 8mm chip out of the bottom side which is all black with a thin green stripe that would be an easy restore. Otherwise it has it's share of small finish cracks and fog spots. On the face edge there is an 8mm fog spot over the grip and 2 small half moon spots where the contour starts, 2 small fog spots near the strap pin, 2 finish cracks near the tone knob, 2 fog spots under the switch on the bottom side, and a small fog on the horn. A 2mm finish crack/fog below the trem. There are several small 2mm finish crack/fogs on the back but a larger crossed T finish crack and fog on the belly contour edge with several more crack/fogs in a line beside it. There is a scrape on the curved top side of the front edge on the head with a couple small marks in the wood at the tip and back bottom edge, and a 3/4" NJFC on the bass side of the pocket. All hardware is in superb condition including the plate and there is absolutely no fretwear. Collector or player this is one sweet GMC. Good swirl prices are way up, and this one is no different being in the top percentile of pattern/color combinations. Gallery pics here. In very clean UV1000C.** $4400** GONE** THANKS ANTON** 8/30/06 JEM77GMC - This was a great swirl when I sold it 3 years ago, but after 3 years in moron hands I'd have to grade it Fair. Repurchased on ebay from Anthony Barone of Long Island, NY, aka tonysta2s, obviously his Ridlyn prescription ran out and he neglected to refill it. Subjected to 3 years of atmosphere not meant for habitation, near 90% of all the cosmo finish has just vanished from the hardware. Whatever it was [and my personal guess is oil refinery combined with sea air and crack pipe] coated the whole guitar in a brown residue, which moron decided to sand and steel wool from the guitar. Back of the neck was sanded while on the guitar so there are scratches around the neck pocket, light mold now growing in the surface of the maple [possible Clorox would kill], residue "cleaned" from the face of the headstock, tops of the pickups, and pickguard with steel wool [I did say MORON owned right?]. There are no dings or chips in the guitar anywhere so it would be a good restoration candidate, but it's up for grabs *AS IS*. I don't have the time to spend on this travesty. Gallery pics the night before it was shipped, in better times. Uncased [just as it was sold]** $2250** GONE** THANKS KEN** 3/9/06 JEM77GMC - This is a sweet swirl for a GMC, which are few and far between. Condition issues include 3 chips on the back bottom edge from under to a little over 1cm, and a chip on the lower front edge about 7mm in diameter. There also a couple finish cracks on the top on the grip side, one about 1cm long, the other about 3mm. There's a patch of buckle scratching on the back where you would expect it that has completely dulled the clearcoat. Typical cosmo wear on the neck plate, and cosmo wear to the tops and points of the trem saddles. There's also a small 2mm chip to the top edge of the headstock, truss cover missing, and a short 2mm neck joint finish crack on the treble side, beside an abnormal clearcoat glob. Fretwear is pretty light for a 14 year old played guitar. Dirty Dimarzio strap lock ends on the guitar will be switched to new strap pins. In it's original pink lined UV1000 with lost combination or bungled lock. Latch is in case pocket.** $2750** GONE** THANKS JOHN** 3/16/06
JEM77GMC
-
Players condition GMC that I'd have to grade as Fair. Most of the chips are
along the top edge and range from a few mm to about 1/2". Some have been touched
up w/ black, most not. I count 7 on the top side/edge, 1 on the bottom
side/edge, large fog spot on the lower front edge, 2 chips on the back bottom
edge, and 1 next to the trem cover. Small edge chips on the headstock, pimpling
to the base side of the trem and finish loss to the E A and D saddles. Minimal
fretwear but a deeper groove on the 2nd fret G string, 1/4" NJFC on the treble
side. In clean new UV1000.** $1875** GONE** THANKS MATT** 8/1/05 JEM77GMC - KILLER, it's 3rd trip to my house, and it gets better and more expensive each time ;) Signs of a guitar that's definitely been played, guard scratching but not cloudy, wear off the bass side of the trem, and plate corrosion. There are 2 finish crack on the bottom flat, and tiny end of head bruises, but this swirl just makes them all disappear. Killer. Detail pics here. In super clean original pink lined** $2900** GONE** THANKS MIKE** 4/4/03 JEM77GMC - 12 chips/cracks around the front and back bottom edge (was previously owned by a country steel player), rest including neck is flawless. Plenty of pick scratches on the guard and wear/pimpling on trem. In non original case. $1400** GONE** THANKS SCOTT** 6/11 JEM77GMC - KILLER swirl in Excellent condition. 1 small chip on edge of neck pocket and a slight bulge to about 1" of the scarf joint, (not cracked or repaired, but you can just barely feel a ridge, I'm clueless) typical guard scratching and plate corrosion of a played but well taken care of guitar shown here. $2500** GONE** THANKS TONY** 4/13 JEM77GMC - KILLER SWIRL!! One of the best GMC's you'll ever see! In Excellent condition, but has been played allot, clean pink lined case. Pics of it's flaws/wear here** $2500**GONE** THANKS CHRIS** 2/1
JEM10th #780
- Mint minus with only the lightest and sparsest of dusting scratches [and most
all around the arm contour], and a small area of very light scratching on the
side where it looks like it sat on a stand on display, and a 2mm finish crack on
the back bottom edge. There's also an E string impression on the edge of the
bridge pickup, I usually attribute these to shipping and it's not the first I've
seen, and the small horn tear inside the case is definitely from shipping. No
chrome wear off the pickups and a very nice tight flamed maple neck. Cert, in
near perfect US silver case with a few scratches and back bottom end cap scuff
thru.. ** $4850** JEM10th #477 - Mint minus with just a bit of chrome wear off the treble and bass side of the bridge pickup, and a few super light wiping type scratches on the front. On the back there is an area under the trem cover that looks like a shirt button rubbed, and 2 areas of super light scratches on the back of the upper and lower horns where it looks like it slid across something, all super light. Otherwise flawless, no finish cracks, dings, nothing. There is a gouge in the case plaque on an otherwise very clean silver case with a corner scuff and just a little white on the end caps from sliding in or out of a closet once or twice. Crisp cert, warranty card, original receipt, tools, etc.** $4350** GONE** THANKS BARRY** 6/30/06 JEM10th #176 - Dead Mint -, in nearly untouched condition and impossible to say if it's minor faults aren't factory. There is a scratch on the single coil cover with no chrome loss so it might be in the plastic under the chrome, and a couple of tiny spots on the back that look like buff buildup, whatever they are they are not "damage" [picture super lightened to get them to show, what looks like scratches below them are actually factory polishing lines from the arbor wheel]. The bottom flat has a rough factory polish on it, otherwise this is a crisp 10th. There is a wear thru and wear on one end cap of the otherwise crisp silver US case. Cert and paperwork of course.** $4800** GONE** THANKS MAIKO** 1/9/06 JEM10th #101 - Dead Mint untouched in original shipping box. It doesn't get any better. I sold this far too cheap, it'll cost me this much to replace it.** $5000** GONE** THANKS ELIOT** 12/7/05 JEM10th #277 - This 10th was the unfortunate victim of a climactic shipping disaster, or, your guess. It's got 4 finish cracks on the top. 3 that run from the purfling to the lions claw and 1 that runs to where the back of the trem would be. There are also 2 spots of clear blowout in the purfling. In my experience these are caused when a guitar freezes, typically during shipping. The body shrinks past the point the abalone purfling can and blows the clear off where 2 piece of abalone meet. Of course this is how the finish cracks were created, same thing as a finish check in a vintage guitar. Otherwise it's very clean. There is some chrome loss to the top and bottom edges of all 3 pickups but not bad at all, and some minor buckle/rivet worming on the back between the trem cover and AANJ, in two different spots. A couple small finish cracks and scratches scattered, but do not detract [with the finish cracks on the top everything else is uber minor and secondary]. In a new case normally used for Artist models. Go figure.** $2775** GONE** THANKS BEN** 8/22/05
JEM10th #206
- A 10th with a sustainer, and in a gig bag, of all things! Yup, now you'll
never have to ponder over whether you could rout a 10th to add a sustainer, it's
already been done! I'm not positive which model this is but I'm sure somebody
that does will let me know and I'll update this. I'd have to call this a
professional installation as I can't fault any of it. The back has been routed
for the controls and battery. The switches mounted on the top in the same spot
as all of Steve's sustainer equipped Jems. On condition there are 2 small dings
of about 2mm below the lions claw, a 5mm finish crack behind the claw, and a 3mm
finish crack on the arm contour. There's another 5mm crack on the bottom side
and 2 scuffs next to the jack. There's also what I can only guess is strap lock
"damage" on the top side of the lower strap pin. The back has allot of fine
scratching as you'd expect to see on a played black guitar, the face relatively
clean in comparison. Wear off the top and bottom edges of the single and
humbucker, the worst to the lower side of the single. Very little fretwear. In
best quality Japan gig bag.** $2850** GONE** THANKS ERIC
JEM10th #666
- Devilish, players 10th, I'd grade it Very Good, face is clean except for the
40% chrome wear off the pups, typical cliplock scratching on the upper horn, and
speckled corrosion on the pickguard where you would finger bridge. There's a 7mm
chip of the back bottom edge some edge marks and a few on the back, light rivet
rash between the cover and the AANJ. Neck is very smooth and amber and it's my
guess it's a coat of tung oil, feels great but not original as the 10th is the
only Jem with an unfinished neck. Definite even fretwear on the G and B strings,

papers and tags, the complete package. The only flaw is a 1/4" clearcoat crack
radiating from the upper right neck plate screw, factory and not that uncommon
on LNG's as the radius to the plate is a little more curved with the plate
bolting down on that slight curve. Spot cleared signature done by Hoshino
USA. In JEM777LNG #362 - Player condition with 4 small circle crack dinks in the top and a 5mm x 2mm chip on the back bottom edge. Lots of finish wear on the trem, dirty board but not nasty, mismatched knobs and tip. Signed #362 a second time by Steve on top of the original faded sig. Grain parallel crack behind nut [with the grain, not between the nut screws!] that is glued and totally stable, frets show little wear. Broken handrest, in original Chesbro LNG case.** $1000** GONE** THANKS LARRY** 12/12/03 JEM777LNG #142 - Dead Mint, plastic still on the guard, appears to be a full body reclear over signature, Hoshino USA guitar and I'm still sorting out what was recleared fully, spot cleared, and uncleared. Either way, plastic on the guard and crisp condition throughout .JEM777LNG #184 - Super clean Near Mint condition, but with a few flaws. A 3x4mm circle finish crack from a ding [no penetration] near the top side edge, a spot on the fretboard between the 15th and the 18th under the E and B where [deduction] some paint pimples in the clear were removed at the factory, removing all the clear at the same time. Looks like steel wooled and runs right under and through 2 frets so it was pre-fretting and has grayed slightly. One of the mounting screws for the handrest is missing, as are the rubber pads for the feet. The very edge of the neck plate lightly corroded and some scattered light guard scratching. Now for the good points ;) The rest is just super clean, ultra crisp signature, no NJFC's, crisp trem, no play wear whatsoever, unsigned warranty card, tools, clean original pyramid case** $2150** GONE** THANKS DAVID** 8/6/03 JEM777LNG - #260 ijn Very Good, Face very clean with with quite a few almost invisible tiny to small finish cracks, typical guard scratching. 3 chips on the back edges with a few more finish cracks and a deep scuff also on back. Very even clearcoat wear through and darkening to board, chip off end of head. Edge replaced with a new Lo Pro, small hole in side of Vol. knob. In original grey lined Chesbro LNG case** $1300** GONE** THANKS MARTIN** 11/25/02 JEM777LNG #359 - Ehh, it's a player. Body is very clean, no chips, 1 dink on the bottom flat, some finish checking on the back (I still haven't figured out why you see this on some 777's), the neck has planty of color right around the frets, an odd place to get wear through staining!! My bet some misinformed amateur cleaned the frets with steel wool without masking them off to protect the clear, then he uses some type oil on the board, I can smell it. A good cleaning with Naptha couldn't hurt. Tweak off the tip of the head and heavy saddle wear, original flattop handrest also with wear. Signature has been touched up and cleared in, possibly Stevie touched it up, who knows, but the clear scrapes off with your fingernail easily so that's a good thing ;) In Original case Chesbro put their LNG's in.** $1300** SALE** $1200** GONE** THANKS JASON** 10/18/02 JEM777LNG #588 - Looks clean at a glance, but under inspection you'll find alot of finish cracks including a nasty on the front bottom edge, and 2 dinks, one on the face and one on the back. Asian market so in gig bag. $1250** GONE** THANKS TODD** 7/23/02 JEM LNG NECK - Fretboard has been cleaned and looks great! Frets are perfect. AND it has a factory MATTE finished fretboard!! Second one I've seen in matte but this board is crisp and bright as the day it was made! I now believe the neck was resprayed at Hoshino USA before it left when new. All hardware flawless including *Original* (flat top) handrest!! (a few 'spots' of the top of the rest) The signature has been lightly sprayed with clear to seal it in, the clear broke down the sig a little. In it's DEAD MINT original #rd case!!** $2150** Requested high res pics here GONE** THANKS ERIC** 11/23 JEM LNG #201 - ex Glen Ciancuilli, First pic in Jemsite LNG Gallery. One of the few Stevie signed with a NON indelible marker. During the signing Stevie picked up the wrong marker after a break and nobody noticed. Picked up the correct marker after another break. When they were preparing them for shipping an employee noticed the sigs were rubbing off on some of them, they realized what happened and found all the guitars that were signed in the nonindelible marker. These were all recleared (the full body) sealing the signature under the clear. Now at least 1 of these 'phantom' #'s has been identified. Slight wear on board, slight staining, short 3/16" crack on center of back, 1 on face 1/8" long, 3 repaired chips on the edge of trem cavity (professional, probably done by Hoshino when they recleared) fairly clean original #rd case. JEM777SK
-
Very rare, very JEM777SK - First year 1987 in very good. The body is fairly clean but it's somehow been toyed with and whatever was done changed the SK on the lower front to a darker shade. [The Mavica pics are closer to the true difference in color that the large pics as that camera just handles reds differently] There are plenty of signs it was spot clearcoated on that lower have and edged just over the side, for what reason is anybodies guess but there are plenty of probably circular light sanding scratches over the area that weren't fully removed. Past that the back of the neck has also been shot in clear. This must have been a request my somebody and the Joeseph Despagni engraved signature on the backplate is a big clue. JD replied that he never owned an 87'SK and he doesn't remember the engrave sig but that it did look like his sig. For the rest of the condition, typical light scratching on the back with a small ding in the center of the field, and a series of small marks including a very small chip on the back bottom edge, with a 3 x 7mm ding on the bottom side. Pimpling the the bass side of the trem, plate corrosion, very little fretwear, and after looking close, the fretboard has also been re-clearcoated, frets have been cleaned off I believe. This is going AS IS. In original JEM1000 with some tolex chunks touched up with Sharpie and buggered lock.** $1375** GONE** THANKS DAVID** 5/31/07 JEM777SK - First year 87' in Excellent ++. There is little if any fade to the SK and the front, sides, and headstock are super clean. There are 2 finish cracks on the back near the curved edge of the belly contour, and a small ding on the edge of the trem cover. There is some clear wear on the board and some light color starting but the fretwear is very light. Looks like a mineral stain next to the 7th fret inlay and plenty of pimpling on the bass side trem plate. There are the typical neck joint finish cracks but the bass side crack is very long and just wraps the edge to the back. In pretty clean original JEM1000C with tarnished hardware and a lock that opens on any number with a short throw tongue and probable lost combo.** $1500** GONE** THANKS MARTIN** 11/28/05 JEM777SK - 1988 in Exc++. This is a very early 88' with the peak aligned pads nut [pads in the pics were on wrong and discovered during disassembly]. Very little fade but some evident to the single cover. There's a 2mm circle crack [ding without penetration] on the face with several short line depressions in that area, plenty of clear wear off the board and it might have been cleaned but I'm not positive. Minimal fretwear, very clean hardware, in ice JEM1000C with original unfilled warranty card, original hang tags, and receipt.** $1500** GONE** THANKS GEORGE** 6/15/05 JEM777SK - The cleanest SK I've had. An 87' with original second generation handrest, this guitar is in crisp condition save for a couple light scratches on the bottom side. Some light speckles on the first third of the neck plate and a small bit of wear to the points on the Edge saddles, the board with just a hair of clear loss but with very light and scattered dirt evenly through the board. Does not look dirty at all. What can only be described as a clearcoat "touch" at the tip of the headstock where it appears the wet clear touched something before it dried. Light swirl wiping scratching to the guard only. All paperwork. In original Jem1000 case in exc condition.**$1300** GONE** THANKS ANTONIO** 12/15/03 JEM777SK - 88' in fine condition for a guitar that was probably played allot. Lots of guard scratching and even overall clearcoat wearthrough with darkening starting on the board, but crisp hardware and virtually zero fretwear. No Fading!! No neck joint cracks. Face is super clean [has a clearcoat curtain up from the bridge p/u the factory didn't quite fully wetsand] and is signed by Stevie "Jam on", which will be perfect if your name is Richard, because that's who it's signed to. Looks like blue felt-tip, might polish off. There's a small 2mm chip off the back edge and some rivet rashing lower right of back, with a 1" scratch lower left back, 3mm paint tweak off the tip of the head. In clean Jem1000 but with "unknown/broken" [I'm scared to lock it to see if it will open] combo lock** $1075** GONE** THANKS STUART** 6/20/03JEM777SK - 87' original, pickups with very little fading, body has 0 fading! It does has a small chip on the back near the jack cover and 1/2" NJ finish crack bass side. Another finish crack on the side. The board has some staining but almost 0 fretwear. Has had a tremsetter professionally installed. Neck has frontbow but if you want more you'll have to micro chisel about 1mm from under the truss nut, the wrench will not fit under it and the neck has never been adjusted. (it could use just a *hair* more frontbow, and I don't have any 'carving' chisels) Uncased** $900** GONE** THANKS CHRISTINA** 12/5/01 JEM777DY - 1990 with Edge in super clean condition. There are about 10 pick scratches between the grip and pickguard, and a tiny edge crack on the back bottom edge, a long 1 1/4" NJFC treble side and a short 3/8" crack bass, otherwise the body paint in flawless and unscathed, in original factory polish, BUT, in an unexplainable twist like so many things that just can't be explained, it's darkened. While the clean headstock is pure DY the body is more sunflower. I pulled the plate to check and see if it was UV but even though underneath is pure DY, there is darkening under it, especially at the circular mold relief in the plate seat. This leads me to believe wherever air was sealed away from the body it stayed DY. Just another strange enigma but IMO a fault of the factory clear sprayed that day. There is some corrosion on the trem that will clean off, missing it's lock blocks that will be replaced, and some very light areas of dirt on the fretboard with a wear through spot at C on the B string where the original owner evidently didn't keep his nails trimmed. This guitar has seen very little playtime in 16 years. In it's clean original Ibanez gig bag.** $1550** GONE** THANKS JAMIE** 10/4/06 JEM777DY - 1990 with original Edge trem. Condition report includes a 2mm circle crack down back from the tone knob, some near imperceptible impressions with no cracks, pickguard scratching of course, a couple very minor marks on the bottom side, a 4-5mm circle crack on the edge of the jack cover. The headstock has almost a shave of finish off the edge about 1" long, like .3mm wide. The neck is super clean, no fade on the pickups [or almost none] some light speckling to the neck plate, about 20 or so small pimples on the base side of the trem, in clean [but not perfect, couple ticks, etc] original pink lined case.** $1500** GONE** THANKS BILL** 3/29/05 JEM777DY - First year 1987 in player condition.. Consider this another eBay mistake of mine. There are plenty of scattered dings and finish cracks/scratches, 3/4" NJFC bass side, 1/4" treble, 3 dings in the top, a patch of dings on the top side, a couple small edge chips on the back bottom edge, patch of button scratching between trem cover and plate, etc. etc. Jack was relocated to the pickguard tone hole and new tone hole drilled between it and the vol.Fretboard is filthy in the pics with a lot of built up crud that will clean off. I don't think it's very stained underneath. It's good points are a very good neck profile, minimal fretwear, and minimal cosmo wear and pimpling on the Edge trem. Truss cover taken for a GMC since pics were taken. I usually "as is" mistakes and this will be no different, but I will fix the loose bass side stud insert as I can tell it's at an angle. In something old Ibanez maybe case.** $1000** GONE** THANKS FRANK** 3/29/06 JEM777DY - 88' in Exc.. Looks great but has lots of small condition issues. About 20 short 2mm finish cracks on the face with about 10 more on the back including an 8x3mm dink. Some clear wear through and light discoloration on the fretboard, 2 small ticks to the head and some fine pimpling on the bass side of the Edge. Medium fretwear, missing trem cover, in new UV1000 case.** $1100** GONE** THANKS PAUL** 5/10/04 JEM777DY - 91' with a Lo Pro in EXCellent++++ condition! No dinks chips cracks, period! Fretboard so near flawless and still bright. Minimal fading to the pups and pick scratching on the guard but all hardware is close to flawless including the plate!! Tonemonster! In UV1000. $1250** And all that was true right up till I put the trem cover back on and pretty much threw the screwdriver out of my hand. Now it's got an edge dink/chip on the back near the bottom strap button. I'm swallowing a $150 Valium and taking a nap now.** $1100** GONE** THANKS DAVE** 2/04/02 JEM777DY - Near DEAD Mint, slight fingernail/pick scratching to guard away from flawless** $1350** GONE** THANKS C.J.** 1/27 JEM777VDY - Player condition, many dinks but no chips, Excellent player! $675**GONE**THANKS ROB**9/2 JEM777VDY - 91' VDY in near MINT, some pimpling on the bass side of trem and slight corrosion on the plate, no board wear, body and neck flawless!! In generic, old, handle-less shit case, latches work :-)** $1100** GONE** THANKS JOEL** 5/1 JEM777VBK - Near Mint, the paint is super clean as well as the neck and head. Outside of the fingernail/pick scratching on the guard, about 15 small pimples on the bass side of the trem, and some corrosion at the end of the neck plate this guitar is cherry. There is one virtually undetectable NJFC on the bass side, about 1/2" long. This is a 90' with the Edge trem. In clean RG140 case** $1225**GONE** THANKS PIERRE** 2/19/04 JEM777VBK - For a model typically only found in player condition, this one is Super CLEAN! Crisp hardware, crisp paint with the exception of some fog spoting at the edge of the jack cover, no damage whatsoever. No fretwear or neck joint finish cracks, like a time capsule. Minor light swirl scratching to the guard. Incredible. In M100 case.** $1450** GONE** THANKS MIKE** 4/4/03 JEM77BFP - Patheti pretty much covers it. Rarely do I say see pics for condition issues but this would be one of them. Just too many to list. Numerous chips, dings, smacks, just about everywhere. Just to hit some highlights you might miss, the plate contour on the back has been oversprayed in black that runs into the horns on both sides. Why? MY guess an idiots attempt to cover or fix the typical NJFC's. And the arm holder has been converted over to OFR type. Oddly enough the neck is very good, very little board clearcoat wear, and frets with average for age fretwear. In Ibanez gig. Another AS IS loss leader from Ibanez Rules.** $1150** GONE** THANKS JIM** 9/19/06JEM77BFP - Exc. ++. a few very minor marks around the back edge, guard scratching, mismatched knobs, but clean fretboard, clean head, clean face, minor scratch on the back, minor pimpling on trem, overall very clean. I've flipped both ways, thinking it was a really good resto, or it's all original [except the knobs], but I can't be 100% sure either way so I'm sure you wouldn't either ;o}. JEM77BRMR - Brand New untouched. I got this out as sold and while inspecting
for setup I noticed a small gap between the mirror top and binding in the upper
horn. I can't tell if the binding is pulled away or the top is just cut short or
if it's a combination of both, but I suspect the binding has pulled away
slightly, although there's no sign of it inside the bout. After further review
this is not an isolated case. Blowing out *as is* as a blem.** $1725** GONE**
