[Her pictures from the auction] ********************************************************************* The title claims it is 18K Gold, the description states it has 18K Gold on the back. This watch is absolutely not 18K Gold, not even 1K Gold. It is a plated watch and the plating is not gold either. The stainless back has either had the 18K stamp added or most likely it's the back from another watch. The plating has been completely buffed off the front of the watch and band so it "shows" better in pictures but the back clearly shows what it is. Here are a series of pictures that clearly show what it is [and isn't] The back of the band clearly shows the worn plating down to the base metal You can clearly see the plate worn to base metal on the watch case also The front of the case and band have had all of the plate buffed off. You will never see a plated watch where the plate has "worn" off this clean and completely and the sheen illustrates this was a recent buff. You can still see just a little of the plate around the stem where it's near impossible to buff. And clearly in between the links of the band. When I wrote the seller stating - "I hate to tell you this but i assume you already know, this watch isn't 18k gold or even 1k gold, it was a plated gold toned watch with nearly all of the plating worn off. you could have listed it that way and been honest about it. either this back has been re-stamped 18k or it's the back off of another watch [most likely], either way, we both know it's not right. returning to 1126 wood st.?" This was her reply - "I did not know. I was trying to be as honest as I could. I assumed the band
was gold plate and I only went by what was on the back. I stated that in the ad.
I will have to get back with you on this. She assumed it was gold plate but failed to mention that in the add, instead stating in the title 18kGold Bulova without one word of it being plated or even one picture that shows the true condition of the watch, only 2 pictures of the front that show the plate has been completely buffed off for better sales potential. I was buying an 18K Gold watch, not junk for $210. In a subsequent email she states - "I try to describe the items to the best of my ability and I did not intentionally decieve you." and "I put in the ad that items are sold "as is", no refunds." But she fails to mention that she assumed [and should be no doubt she knew it was plate if you look at the pictures shown] it was plated, definitely intentionally left out of the description as it would have kept the price to what it should have been, about 10% of the $210 it closed at. And falls back on her "As Is" listing. "As is" means no buyers remorse and is not a way out of the fraud that was committed in describing and selling something as 18K Gold that is clearly plated, she knew it was plated, did not mention it, show any pictures that would illustrate it, only showed and described the item to get maximum return with no regard to "best of ability" or "honesty". Misrepresentaion and fraud, nothing more.
