CASH

There are several payment alternatives you may choose from. Money Orders and Cashiers Check are always preferred. Money Orders and Bank Checks MUST have enough security features present to distinguish them as "real", otherwise they must clear before shipping [over $100]. Merchandise will be shipped the first business day following payment if these security features are present, unless it's a guitar purchase as I'm usually in a backlog of work ["As Is" guitar purchases will ship next day or as soon as possible with my busy schedule]. Guitars go into tech line when payment arrives. Personal checks are accepted for payments under $100, typically for parts orders, and do not need to clear. You may also choose to transfer the funds directly into my account. This usually takes 1-2 business days (Priority Mail is just as fast) and you must add in the $10 transfer fee my bank charges to receive the transfer. You will need to contact me for my account information.

Paypal used to be a decent online payment alternative but they have changed all the rules so many times now it just sucks!! It's fine if you have the cash already IN your Paypal account, I cannot receive credit or debit card payments through Paypal. Another option is if you have verified your bank account with Paypal and you can transfer funds directly from your bank account into my Paypal account, it must not be linked with an ATM or Debit card. Paypal considers all cards the same. All in all Paypal is fine with restrictions but, Cashiers Checks preferred!!

CREDIT CARD

I accept Visa and Master Card only. All credit cards must pass security clearance through your credit card company to verify you are who you say, and verify the billing/shipping address. Due to the amount of online credit card fraud I personally check on the status of each card. This is why I will never use an automated online merchant account to accept credit card orders. They could care less if I'm getting robbed, they get their percentage either way. I will need the toll free Customer Service number located on the back of your card, the card number, card type, expiration date, 3 digit security code, your name, and billing address. Shipping to verified billing addresses only. You will also need to fill out a Credit Card Authorization Form that contains all the specifics of the transaction, sign, and fax or mail the completed form along with a *clear and readable* copy of the front and back of your credit card and drivers licenses. You must also sign and return a copy of the Return Policy Approval Form showing that you have read and approve of the terms. I know this is an ultimate pain in the ass but you can blame the thieves in this world for screwing it up for good honest folks. I will email these forms to you to print out on request.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS

Your payment options are more limited.

NO INTERNATIONAL CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS! If you wanted to use a credit card, take it to your bank for a cash advance and then transfer the cash.

Payments Under $500

International Money Orders or Bank Checks in US Dollars, International Money Orders and Bank Checks MUST be drawn on a US bank, and MUST have enough security features present to distinguish them as "real", otherwise they must clear before shipping. Under $500 only.

Paypal - I have a personal account so Paypal only works if you have the cash already IN your Paypal account, I cannot receive credit card payments through Paypal. Another option is if you have verified your bank account with Paypal and you can transfer funds directly from your bank account into my Paypal account, [Each country will be different and some do not allow linking to your bank account. Get somebody to send you money and then send it to me if you need to use Paypal and can't meet the restriction] it must not be linked with an ATM or Debit card.  Paypal considers all cards the same. Write for instructions.

Western Union Check. You can pay Western Union to physically send me a check. You must notify me it is coming, specify the order, and shipping address so I can write it up. It will only come with your name on it and I have to coordinate it to the order.

Western Union Wire Transfer. If you choose Western Union for an instant transfer add $10 for my receive fee. I have to drive 10 miles and put up with quite inept people working the computer receiving and printing the check. Time is money, and I charge for mine. Write for instructions. [Over $200 only!]

US Cash. Last but not least sending US cash is a cheap and effective way to pay, and US cash is available almost everywhere in the world. It is as reliable as sending mail, and no the postman isn't sniffing every envelope to try and sniff out cash. Be sensible and fold it up in a sheet of paper and NObody is the wiser, although I wouldn't recommend it for payments over $100 [or whatever you can comfortably loose], a cash payment has never gone lost yet, but the longer that streak stays alive the closer one comes to going wayward.

Payments Over $500

Bank to Bank Wire Transfer - If you choose the wire transfer you must add the $35 International transfer fee the banks in the middle steal as fees. This fee has just risen from $25 to $35 as 3 transfers in a row have been $5 and $10 short, pointing to a probability that the international clearing banks have raised the fees. Your bank will also charge you a fee for transferring the money, check with them first (I've got to pay $30 to transfer money overseas!).

Merchandise always shipped the first business day after payment is received, except as noted above. For an 'estimate' of the costs in your currency, check here to calculate. This will only be close as you will be transferring X amount in *US* Dollars at your bank, they will do the conversion on the day the transfer is actually made and currency values fluctuate daily. Make sure to use the drop down menu to change the "Interbank Rate" to "Typical Cash Rate: +4%", the Interbank Rate is what banks charge each other to transfer millions of dollars. Paypal is available if the cash is already in your account and you are *Verified*, no credit card Paypal payments. For small dollar purchases like parts, etc. you might find sending cash or using Western Union your cheapest alternative. You can always write me with any questions here.

International buyers must remember, you will be charged Customs Fees and/or Value Added Tax and/or Import Duty by the Customs Dept. of your country. These are based on a percentage of the declared/insured value of the shipment and vary per country. Every now and then something will mysteriously slip through Customs without added Taxes but fully expect and be prepared to pay. I am collecting responses from countries I ship to and will get a page online at some point with the results, but right now I can only give you a few examples of how varied they are, see below.

I typically quote shipping by Postal Express Insured for full amount because it is the cheapest way to ship. Postal Airmail is about 25% cheaper than Express but can add over a week to delivery time. Postal Express is handled by the United States Postal Service and Express Mail Service [EMS] until it's handed off to your country's customs office [which is a huge warehouse]. Shipping time to your country is fast and usually only 2 or 3 days, but since nobody brokers it through customs the Customs Office has to clear it themselves. A Government Agency at work, in a very big warehouse. Clearing a package includes figuring the Duty/VAT/Tax and sometimes contacting the receiver to ask them how they're paying their Customs bill as some countries require that you pay the Taxes in full *before* they will clear the package. Some countries Customs Office can be a black hole that swallows a package for 10 days to almost 3 weeks, some are quick, England has taken as short as 4 days for total delivery time. After the package clears Customs it's turned over to your country's Postal Service and continues it's Express delivery. Again here, some are much quicker and efficient than others.

The fastest reliable shipping would be UPS or FedEx etc. [I typically only use UPS] They broker the package themselves through customs by calculating all the Fees/Taxes, submitting the correct paperwork to the Customs Office, and pay the Tax/Duty/VAT due themselves so the package flies through Customs. It usually takes only 1-2 days to clear on an Express shipment, depending on the country of destination. Not only will you pay all Taxes and Duty to Customs but these companies will add on their own brokerage fee, usually about $50. UPS is usually 175 - 200% the cost of Postal Express, and then add on their Brokerage Fee. At least twice the cost in total, but depending on the country the shipment can be a day to 2 weeks faster. The choice of what you pay for shipping is up to you.

International Customs Fees

Canada bills 7%GST plus whatever your local provincial tax is, plus 6% duty. Alberta will pay 13% taxes total, Saskatchewan they will pay 20% (7 GST, 6 Duty, and 7PST), etc.

England bills 22% total VAT and Duty.

England bills 22% total VAT and Duty.

Finland bills 3.7% Duty and 22% VAT totaling 25.7%

Holland bills 3.2% Duty and 19% Consumer Tax totaling 22.2%

Spain bills  3.75% Duty and 16% VAT for a combined 19.75%
