Edge Pro to Lo Pro Conversion

An Edge Pro will swap into a Lo Pro or Original Edge rout, usually without issue. The block is much bigger and you may find slight interference on the inside of the rout with the block slightly touching inside the body where you will have to relieve the area it's touching.

With Edge Pros nearing the end of their parts supply, virtually no trems are left available and several of the parts are being discontinued and sold out, many are asking about changing to a Lo Pro or and Original Edge.

A Lo Pro or Original Edge will NOT swap into an Edge Pro rout unless you relieve the front corners of the rout. Shown in these 2 pictures, the outer tines on the Edge Pro [left] sit back almost to the middle of the stud, so the corner of the rout is very round. The Edge and Lo Pro [right] rout is just slightly round as the outer tines on these trems are flush with the front edge of the trem. If you try to put either into an Edge Pro rout the knife edges will not even reach the studs. The rout can be carefully modifier using a cutter wheel on a Dremel with a dab of touch up paint, usually model paint as there are so many colors., it becomes nearly invisible because it in in the rout. use some sealer or clear touch up and let it dry to harden the bare wood so that the paint will sit on top instead of sink in.

This is the same for other trems with setback outer tines like the Edge3. You can replace an Edge3 with Lo Pro or Edge if you square those corners.
